AHMA-CARH Joint Convention
The Washington State Council for Affordable and Rural Housing is a chapter of the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing (CARH), a national industry association consisting of members actively involved in the rural multifamily housing industry. CARH works closely with the government agency overseeing rural housing (USDA-Rural Housing Service) at both the national and statewide levels.
Washington State CARH was named 2011 State Affiliated Association of the Year by the Council for Affordable & Rural Housing in Alexandria, VA.
AHMA and CARH fight back! Joseph B. Diehl, Executive Director of AHMA and CARH, and Connie Devaney, AHMA Board Member and Executive Director of Kawabe Memorial House in Seattle, join up with conventional landlords on Thursday, January 27 to educate state legislators on the important role that landlords serve in The Great Recession and flagging economy - especially in the highly regulated environment of affordable housing. Affordable housing is a privilege, not a right. Contracts under which affordable housing is provided, and restrictions imposed on owners - in every case, eventually expire. Landlord rights must be protected and investment encouraged, in order to preserve affordable housing. It is our members who have risked their capital; the residents have little or nominal investment in their short-term leasehold interest. We cannot keep silent any longer.
